25 October 2002Remembering Paul WellstoneHe was, Mother Jones once said, "the first Sixties radical elected to the U.S. Senate." Maybe he was. Certainly he was unabashedly liberal, in an era where the very word is spoken as a pejorative. But Paul Wellstone, in two terms in the Senate, was determined to make a difference, and to the extent that one man among a hundred can make a difference, I believe he did. He will be missed, on both sides of the aisle. |
