12 September 2003Jailarity ensuesLockdown at the Oklahoma County Jail, but it's not because of the possibility of escaping inmates; it's the annoying certainty of escaping sewage, which flooded the basement and the ground floor yesterday. The plumbing was fixed quickly enough, but it will take time to clean up the mess. And apparently it's the fault of the inmates, says Major Russell Dear:
When they get angry at us, they stuff [the lines] with sheets and bedding, because they know it's all got to flow down to where the administration is on the first floor...and we have to suffer with it.
Sheriff John Whetsel may get his new jail yet. |
