O little ton of bogus smarm
100000watts.com is reporting that WKXP radio in Kingston, New York has switched to an all-Christmas format.
The station recently had a call-letter change (it was previously WBPM), so this could be just a programming stunt in anticipation of a new format, but it's the first week of October, dammit.
(Update, 8 October, 8:40 pm: It was indeed a stunt.)

Wal-Mart already has Christmas stuff in the stores (I think they get it in the warehouse in July), and one of my favorite comic strips, "Liberty Meadows," did a couple of Christmas-related Sunday strips in its online version last month.
Forget long division and map-folding -- we need to teach people how to read a calendar!
I wish. Every year this seems to start a little earlier, and every year I want to roast someone's chestnuts over an open fire because of it.
