26 November 2003It's officialAt approximately 11:40 am on the shores of historic Lake Hefner, I signed a few thousand sheets of paper and became the owner of hysterical Shangri-Chaz. My thanks to Carol Schick of Churchill Brown and Associates, described hitherto as The Expert, and justifiably so; Holli Smith of Keller Williams Realty, who served as Expert to the seller; and to Brenda Newberry of Oklahoma City Abstract and Title Company, who made all the legalese look almost sensible. There will be further acknowledgments as this little drama plays out. A lot of people are contributing in substantial ways to making all this possible, and I'm grateful for their assistance; I could never have pulled this off alone. Congratulations, and enjoy your new home! Posted by: Steve Gigl at 8:53 PM on 26 November 2003Indeed! :) Posted by: ms7168 at 5:05 AM on 27 November 2003Congratulations! Posted by: Andrea Harris at 7:57 AM on 27 November 2003Congrats - having dinner today in the new digs? Kids there? Posted by: Vickie at 10:40 AM on 27 November 2003Congratulations. And when's the house-warming party (Got to break-in the carpet with a few wine stains)? Posted by: Goof Beyou at 12:11 PM on 27 November 2003Carpet? What carpet? We're talking parquet floors throughout (except for kitchen and bathroom, which are tiled). If there's going to be a stain involved, it should be something vaguely varnish-like (I almost said "varnish-ish", which sounds ridiculous). And we haven't actually had dinner in the place yet, but we theoretically could: the kitchen stuff is in place, except for an old and incompatible microwave oven which will be replaced by one less old and hopefully more compatible. The Russmeister is working this week, but Becky is here to crack the whip over her indolent old man. The really heavy lifting comes tomorrow, and I'm sure Mr Payne will have commentary when it's over. Moving is like Christmas in reverse. You know what's in all the boxes and you don't want to see it. I moved four times in five years and it was a soul-shattering experience each time. Posted by: Greg Hlatky at 6:56 PM on 27 November 2003Yay! Congratulations! You're gonna, like, have equity and stuff. Posted by: Erica at 11:45 AM on 28 November 2003I still think Chazri-La rolls off the tongue better than Shangri-Chaz. |
