28 November 2003Moving dayAnd Silly Billing Corporation hasn't cranked up my phone service at the new digs yet, so it may be a while before the next update. Posted at 8:38 AM to SurlywoodYeah, it'll be a while. Since I saw him not 20 minutes ago in a tangle of wires that even put *my* tangles of wires to shame. Not to mention ALL the trouble....desk from hell and all THIRTY-TWO screws. Of course, I suggested taking the door off (which is how it was done in the end) but since I'm female, no one listened to me. Guess that engineering degree is worthless. Posted by: wamprat at 5:46 PM on 28 November 2003There was no lobster and Im sure I heard him wrong when he said EVERYTHING was packed. Posted by: bill at 10:43 PM on 28 November 2003So when's the housewarming party? :) Bits of 'small world', well at least sorta -- I ran across this blog from a mention on NEWOK's Tropiary, and kept thinking Charles G Hill sure sounded familiar... and then, THEN, I ran across the Jessica Stults page. So should I sign this Jennifer, or Ischade, or..? Posted by: Jennifer at 11:42 PM on 28 November 2003Not been told yet WHEN the housewarming party is; tho I hope it's "friendlier" then the moving party. There was NO Diet Coke, no food available and no heat. Hope you're back online soon. We went with Cox telephone, and we like it. (So now we have Cox phone/cable/ISP) However, we're thinking of kicking Cox entirely. We're tired of "feeding the pig" as Dish Network's brilliant new campaign goes. It seems the choices for phone now are: Meh..However, SBC's DSl self-install is great. I installed it for my father in-law and was pleasantly surprised to learn that their home gateway is a wireless router. Cool. Posted by: Dan at 1:02 AM on 29 November 2003Uhhh . . why do you need a phone line to be online? I thought you were going cable. Posted by: ms7168 at 7:56 AM on 29 November 2003Hey Terk; think Chuckie has been (attempting) to play music, since he's not online? Posted by: wamprat at 3:08 PM on 29 November 2003Broadband has to wait until the more immediate needs are met (which means that basically I'm not going to run out and get the Cox self-install kit right away until I have at least a place to sit). In the meantime, I have a working stereo installation, two Cambridge SoundWorks Model 88 radios in opposite corners of the house, and two thousand MP3s on the 'puter, so I can go a while without withdrawal symptoms, which is a Good Thing, since it will take many weeks to clean up this crap. Incidentally, the guys from the Big Furniture Store (this is not the one that has the two semi-folksy ambiguously gay guys) had to pull the legs off my loveseat to get it through the front door. Retro has its price. But Chuck, have you attempted to play any LPs yet? It should be *interesting*.....(snicker) Posted by: wamprat at 4:40 PM on 29 November 2003You know, wamprat, we're more likely to listen to people that are more than sedentary. :) Actually, vinyl in general was easy, though getting one's hands on any particular vinyl item is difficult unless it happens to be near the top of a pile. I did have my stash of two dozen CDs burned for the last World Tour tucked away in the car, but mostly it's been MP3s, once I got the computer to behave (and once I straightened out all that copper pasta on the floor, which took even longer than you think it did). And I did pony up a few bucks for a cordless screwdriver, though it's a tad on the feeble side, as one might expect for under $19. |
