14 January 2004None so fine as 69This was as clean a slogan as we could come up with for my high-school graduating class, which was, indeed, the class of '69. In the meantime, I'm happy to exhume the phrase for Carnival of the Vanities #69, brought to you nine minutes at a time by Snooze Button Dreams, incorporating the Best of the Blogs, plus something of mine to level the playing field. Work with me here: You graduated in 1969. You just turned 50. You are about to (possibly) attend a 35th high school reunion. You were 15 when you graduated high school? I'd say "Do the math," but you've obviously done the math. Yes, it is true. I was almost exactly halfway between my 15th and 16th birthdays on my last day of high school. Heh. Half my 8th graders are looking at a 15th birthday fairly soon, and it sure isn't because kindergarten starts at age seven. Posted by: Vickie at 6:44 PM on 14 January 2004 |
