We'll see that and raise you one

Last week, PETA offered twenty grand worth of soy products or something to the folks in Slaughterville, Oklahoma, in the hopes of persuading the town to change its name to "Veggieville".

Bill Hightower, who raises Limousin cattle in Slaughterville, came up with a counteroffer:

We'll give them $20,000 worth of hamburger if they will move to India where they will be appreciated.

I need hardly add that the town is retaining its name, and beef is still what's for dinner.

I'm waiting for the Christian Coalition to crate up a bunch of bibles and ice machines and offer them to Hell, Michigan if they'd change theirs as well. I think I'll start my own community and call it Dirtpoor, Oklahoma, perhaps the reverse psychology would bring in the windfall. :)

I think Slaughterville should change their name to Dead Meat City just to be obnoxious.

I'll change my middle name to Cat if they'll give me a lifetime supply of Soy Crisps. Mmmm.

No tofu, though.

I think PETA needs to change their name to People for the Uncruel Treatment of Animals. And then start recruiting in Spanish-speaking communities.
