I'd say the true date is about a century earlier, but whatever.

Yeah, I hardly think the birth of capitalism coincided with the birth of America. The only difference between its practice in independent America and that under the rule of Britain and other European monarchies, is that here there was no royal patronage involved.

But even with royal patronage, the application of capital and labor to create wealth was already well-established before Jamestown was settled. In fact, it's how Jamestown was settled.
