The Finch Formerly Known As Gold

In the distance, more distance

Out on US 385

Too much vegetation for Mars, and besides there's that big slab of something in the foreground; it must be US 385 in eastern Colorado.

The black, snaky substance on the road is the ever-popular temporary patch known to some of us as "I Can't Believe It's Not Tar." I think. I wasn't going to get close enough to it to find out, especially with trucks whizzing by every, oh, twenty minutes or so.

I'm glad you explained those black marks. I first thought they were tire rubber left by you enthusiastically postioning the car for that photo.

Actually, I pulled over slowly and quietly, on the basis that I had no idea what might be lurking just beyond the shoulder.

And frankly, if I were going to burn rubber, it would more likely be parallel to the center line. :)
