15 September 2004Sealed with a kissoffThe Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has voted 3-2 to abandon the county's 47-year-old seal in an effort to avoid a lawsuit by the American Civil Liberties Union. The revised seal will drop the image of the Hollywood Bowl with the cross over it, remove the oil derricks, and replace the goddess Pomona with a Native American woman carrying a bowl of acorns. If this isn't silly enough for you, LAist has a recommendation for a new design. Posted at 3:25 PM to DyssynergyI suggest that the seal be changed to a huge white dot...but wait, did I say white? How racist of me!! Crap like this can only happen when the weak willed roll over (cough cough Edmond cough cough). For crying out loud. Terkish Payne, whether it's necessary (or even a Good Idea) or not. Wow, a 47-year-old seal? That is a pretty old seal. By the way, do you know how long is that in seal years? Posted by: Tiger at 11:32 PM on 15 September 2004I saw that on the news. What a crock. The mission looks like a warehouse now. Don't people understand it is celebrating the history now endorsing anything? Posted by: Danielle at 11:57 PM on 15 September 2004The seal of Oklahoma City is coming up on 40 years, and I'm surprised no one's complained about it yet, what with those two perpendicular white bars in the center and all. (Picture of said seal here.) Just goes to prove the simple fact that if you get enough crackpots together with enough press, ... Isn't that redundant?
