The Finch Formerly Known As Gold

2 February 2005

No respect from the rodents

Ain't no sunshine for seven days, and now there's this:

Punxsutawney Phil's handlers said the groundhog has seen his shadow — which legend has it signals six more weeks of winter.

What I really want right now is one of Michele's "Kill Phil" greeting cards.

But for now:

You ain't nothin' but a groundhog
Sleepin' all the time
You ain't nothin' but a groundhog
Sleepin' all the time
Well, you ain't never seen your shadow
And you ain't no friend of mine

Farging weasel.

At least for another six weeks... Just putting a face to your nemesis, Mr Hill.......[read more]

The real big news is, Howard Dean has seen his shadow, which means six more election cycles of Dem defeat.

Two-year cycles, or four?

General Beauregard Lee contradicts Punxatawney Phil? Can a groundhog in Pennsylvania really predict the weather in Georgia? Besides, what self-respecting Georgian would pay the slightest attention to a yankee groundhog?

Most of the Georgians I know will be just as polite as they can be in the presence of said Yankee groundhog.

Of course, once the little whistle-pig is out of earshot, all bets are off.

Bless his mangy little heart.

Oh, and in answer to:

Two-year cycles, or four?

I'll be generous and say two-year cycles. But only because that's what I meant when I said it.

Shoulder up your gun and whistle up your dog
Shoulder up your gun and whistle up your dog
Off to the woods for to catch a groundhog
Oh groundhog
