24 September 2005The threat of Jersey devilsFrom Pavement Narrows, New Jersey, The Prop observes that it won't be all peaches and cream in the big Hornets bowl:
[H]aving a major league franchise in your area has its downside as well. It tends to bring the pork-barrellers, land swindlers and real estate moguls out of the woodwork. You don't want Donald Trump showing up in your fair city, do you?
This presumes that they were in the woodwork to begin with. The history of Oklahoma being rife with such characters, I'm inclined to think that it won't make much difference in the long run. As for The Donald, well, there's a new billboard in the God series on the north I-44 loop. It says: "As my apprentice, you're never fired." Not as funny as "Don't make me come down there," but what the, um, heck. Posted at 9:59 AM to City SceneWell, don't say you haven't been warned! Posted by: The Prop at 6:29 AM on 25 September 2005 |
