The Finch Formerly Known As Gold

The bipolar express

For about ten minutes tonight, the Hornets were as good as any team in the NBA. Unfortunately, that left 38 minutes when they were consistently inconsistent, and while Denver wasn't exactly wonderful, "wonderful" wasn't necessary: Nuggets 91, Hornets 81.

The Hawks will be here Friday; the Bees hit the road immediately afterward.

Chaz - were you a big NBA fan before the New Orleans franchise ended up in OKC? Or is it more of a sudden fascination/curiosity thing?

I wasn't.

I think there's more to it, though, than sudden fascination and/or curiosity. Before 2003, when I lived out in the 'burbs, what took place in the city was of little interest; I crossed into the city limits to go to work, and that was about it.

But now, as a property owner in the city, I'm seeing myself as much more of a participant in what goes on; I have a stake, sort of, in this venture. I'm doing more cultural events. Even my charitable contributions are up, despite the fact that buying the house left me less money for such things. So yeah, there's the novelty value; but mostly, it's part of a change in attitude.
