30 November 2005$45 cash backWell, actually, it's a check, and anyone who paid Oklahoma income tax for 2004 will be getting it as a rebate. (I had no idea the state was so flush with cash that they could afford to hand out these things; maybe they're making a killing on the Gross Production Tax or something.) Taxpayers who filed joint, head-of-household or surviving-spouse returns will get $90. Says the Treasurer's office, 1.2 million checks totalling $92 million will be disbursed. That's an average of $76 and change; apparently comparatively few of us are (sigh) single these days. Posted by: Tatyana at 9:34 AM on 30 November 2005Did you see that they are having Bank of America do it and are paying them over $200,000 for handling it? *Sigh* "Hi, we're from the government and we're here to save you money." There's a reason you never hear this phrase uttered in Real Life. Posted by: CGHill at 10:13 AM on 30 November 2005 |
