The Finch Formerly Known As Gold

1 January 2006

My own 2006 agenda

Butt-head (this is too coherent for Beavis) once said, "I don't like things that suck." In the spirit of this declaration, I'd like to announce that for the coming year, I plan to do fewer things that suck. (Writing things that suck, alas, is a different dynamic entirely.)

Besides that, the following items are on the list:

  • Get through the 19th of October.

  • Get rid of at least one credit card, and the balance owed thereupon.

  • Crank up my 401(k) contributions by a third.

  • Track down this book.

  • Eat fewer Fritos®.

None of these should be particularly difficult.

The hardest thing will be finding the book.

Seeing how this is an election year, and your purchases seem to be progressing to even grander scales, perhaps this year you could buy a politician. I think the going rate is $29,000, so maybe you could buy several — even those with gubernatorial aspirations.

Charles, if you buy a politician, do you think I could borrow him from time to time?

Y'know, to my the lawn?

Y'know, to my the lawn?

Eesh. Re-take!

Y'know, to mow the lawn?

What on earth would I need to buy a politician? If I need senseless pontification on all manner of useless topics, I can put up a blog.

Oh, wait....

You could have done worse than buy a house in '03. First house?

First one on my own; we had one back when I was married, but after the split we sold it off and I'd been in a succession of mostly-uninspired rentals ever since.
