Cluttering up the desktop

Later this week I'll take delivery of one of these, though I had enough extra stuff crammed into it to make that $499 price seem like a distant dream.

Okay, not that distant. It was $849, not counting the little 1GB USB flash drive I bought. And I didn't buy a new screen, reasoning that my ViewSonic 19-incher wasn't quite obsolete just yet.

And did you opt for XP Pro as "recommended", or go all the way with Windows XP Media Center Edition?

You couldn't pay me to take Media Center Edition.

I understand (sort of) XP Home; that's what I have on my notebook, and that's what I'm getting on the desktop.

It's not so bad. Works just like Pro, if you ignore the Media Center crap.

Which I can do, since my wife decided she wanted an actual TiVo instead of using my computer to record her shows.
