Okay, not that distant. It was $849, not counting the little 1GB USB flash drive I bought. And I didn't buy a new screen, reasoning that my ViewSonic 19-incher wasn't quite obsolete just yet. I understand (sort of) XP Home; that's what I have on my notebook, and that's what I'm getting on the desktop. You couldn't pay me to take Media Center Edition. It's not so bad. Works just like Pro, if you ignore the Media Center crap. Which I can do, since my wife decided she wanted an actual TiVo instead of using my computer to record her shows.
