26 August 2006Tiny ship to be tossedOne of the boats used as the S. S. Minnow on Gilligan's Island is on sale for $99,000. I have no idea of the extent of its seaworthiness, but you'd think it would be good for at least, oh, a three-hour tour. Then I looked at the ad offering the vessel, and spotted this:
10' Dinghy, 3 batteries, sleeps 5.
Got that? Sleeps 5. Put seven aboard and you're going to wind up with stranded castaways, none of whom are guaranteed to look like Tina Louise or Dawn Wells. (Via Steph Mineart.) Okay, the dinghy I don't get -- but the rest of the ad says the boat is 37' long by 10'10" wide. Odds are the dinghy is an auxiliary boat that comes with, though it isn't shown in the pics. Well anyway, the Minnow wasn't an overnight cruise ship. Posted by: McGehee at 4:17 PM on 26 August 2006Actually, I was hoping for an off-color "dinghy" joke without going to the trouble of having to come up with one myself. Well, now I feel like a perfect dinghy-ling. Posted by: McGehee at 7:47 PM on 26 August 2006 |
