Lol! A friend threw this idea at me a few years ago. Incidentally, I’m using the concept of a bazooka that shoots chainsaws in a short story.

the chainsaw gun would work just fine, assuming you hit the zombie in the head with it. The problem would be that it is a single shot and that it would be a time-consuming pain to reload. That fact, coupled with the reality that although you took down one zombie with extreme prejudice, the rest of the zombie horde is unfazed and still coming. Hopefully you have room to run and get away.

Hopefully you weren’t so engrossed in how brutally you just splattered a single zombie that you are ignoring the reality of the rest of them approaching your position until it’s too late.

Then there’s the problem of recoil. There’s a chance that you’re going to be lying on your ass, getting your wind back after firing the gun, and when you get back to your feet, you find that the zombies are now closing in and there’s nowhere left to run.

Still, that brief moment of time when you shred the zombie you aim at will be really freaking impressive. Almost worth the reality of being eaten alive by the rest of the zombies.

Why wouldn’t it work on Zombies? From what I remember from the remakes of Night of the Living Dead series, Zombies can be stopped with a shotgun blast to the head. Or is it unsafe to trust remakes?
