A classic Astleyan argument

Who knew? (Some of you probably did, since this has been around a while, but I hadn’t seen it.) Apparently it’s possible to Rickroll a term paper.

(Via Miss Cellania, who somehow knows where all this stuff is.)

    I can’t read it.
I consider it poor page design a disrespect to the reader. If there is no contrast between a text and the background I take it as subconscious realization, on the part of the author, that his/her text is not worth of my, reader’s, attention. Black background adds 10 negative points to that conclusion.

Tat: did you look at the lighter colored highlighted words on the left side of the column?

That “essay” took someone a lot of time, is all I’m gonna say.

Jeff, highlighted words have something only in connection with the rest of the text – which is impossible to read. As “graphic designer’s trick they simply look ugly and serve no purpose.
Someone should have put himself in place of consumer – if he wanted them to read his “essay”.

Not that well-written of a paper, but if someone in my class did that (and IF I noticed it, which would be unlikely), I’d have to give them some kinds of bonus points.

Because I had a wee little thing for Rick Astley, back when he was first popular, back when I was in high school….

Also, it would show more effort than many students put in these days…

    Jeff…well, OK, I didn’t get it at first – I wasn’t in this country in the 80’s. Yeah, I know – excuses.
But the graphics are still bad, regardless!
