    If my first Bronco had survived just four more years it would have been exempt from the emissions tests required in metro Atlanta (and also, inexplicably, in Coweta County). Now I have to wait until 2021 — and things being as they are, sudden, explosive death is almost certainly the only way my current Bronco gets retired.

    I only hope I’m not in it when that happens.

    I’m all for giving the LEOs with DOT enforcement authority the go ahead to pull over cars the same way they do commercial trucks. Why shouldn’t your car have brakes that actually function and all the other safety equipment fully operational?

    And I don’t want to hear about discrimination, either, because the trucks that most frequently fail inspections are generally owned by those in the lower end of the social strata as well, or they could afford to fix them.
