Semi-nice try

But it won’t get your spam into the system. Akismet caught this one:

I have been absent for some time, but now I remember why I used to love this web site. Thanks, I’ll try and check back more often. How frequently you update your web site?

If you really loved it, you’d understand the update schedule. (sniff)

I update my site every two weeks, just the same as every WordPress user.

I post most every day, though.

Actually, I haven’t, only because I never look in spam and rarely in my email. I’m not quite as high profile. You get all the goodies!

Or at least I’m fool enough to put them out in public.

Charles, you WOULD get more followers if you’d update more than once every month, I’m sure of it.

Lately. WordPress taken on itself giving me suggestions for the topic on my next writing. Every time I post something new a page appears where they try to make my blog “popular” by “publicizing” it. (Sorry for the scare quotes;it’s the mildest expression of my contempt). I’m not sure if they are hinting at my wasting their precious bandwidth with so few followers or they are simply nosy busybodies. Just now, for instance, they presented me with this lame list:

Choose a prompt to start a new post:

    * Name a food you were surprised to like.
    * Have you ever received an amusing email, text, or voicemail message not intended for you?
    * Do you have any pets?

What do they take me for, a 14yo valley girl?

Rather a lot of people signed up to wordpress.com are in fact fourteen-year-old girls. For some reason, they aren’t sending me such recommendations, perhaps because I have far fewer visitors. I have, however, a mind to experiment.

[…] One of the regulars at my main site left this bit of grumblement over there: Every time I post something new a page appears where they try to make my blog “popular” by “publicizing” it. […]

This time they actually sent me a set:

    * If you could banish any one person from your life who would it be? Why?

    * Have you ever lived outside the country you were born in?

    * What are you good at remembering?

Things that Web hosts do to annoy, I remember for very long periods of time.

If a major league pitcher sent that over the plate the major league batter would charge the mound to avenge the insult.

See what I mean? Worse than annoying gmail ads
