Silence in north Texas

“It looks like I don’t get my full year,” said Ric Locke last weekend. “In fact if I get another month or two I can count myself very, very lucky.”

The author of the acclaimed 2011 novel Temporary Duty didn’t get so much as another weekend. Presumably the Divine Plan had something else in mind.

Barb Caffrey posted this remembrance of the man who for so many years gave us “observations, some valid.” He will be greatly missed.

So agree about Ric and so sad to have him gone. For years, and no matter what forum, he always had those oh so valid observations of which you speak.

Well, damn. I had visited his blog a time or three, but mostly ran into him in comments around the web, and a lot here. I certainly respected his opinions and insight.

We are diminished with his absence.

What Jeffro said. Still, any time at all with a good friend, however limited, is worthwhile.
