In which I am not mentioned

Buzzfeed has compiled a somewhat-subjective list of The 35 Dumbest Things Ever Said On The Internet. Surprisingly, no politicians were involved, despite the prodigious bounty of exploitable stupidity that was the 2012 election.

Side issue: In general, the names of the participants are obscured to protect their privacy. I can’t help but wonder if this practice might actually be disservice to the species, inasmuch as it prevents the embarrassment of its dumber members, who end up with no incentive to be Less Stupid. To the extent that stupidity goes unpunished, the evolution of the species is thwarted, is it not?

Unless, of course, they are not smart enough to be ashamed. Which might bring us back to those politicians…

In a world of “everyone is a winnah!!!” and self esteem is valued more than actual experience, are you surprised?

[For some reason I am in a charitable mood] to be fair, some of them not technically stupid, but misinformed…or not informed at all, so they are guilt at most is being lazy.
And at least one – the photoshopped pic of a girl hovering over Eiffel Tower – is clearly a joke -why is she included?

I can also see where some of them might be being deliberately snarky or ironic. And there was at least one I’d blame on those teensie little keyboards they put on phones.

Gah! Another 30 seconds of my life gone, wasted on this useless drivel. 30 seconds I will never get back! How can I have been so stupid?

I think 12 is just nitpicking.

Someone once tried to persuade me that celery had negative calories: that the effort you made to chew it offset its actual calorie count.

I think I had #16 in one of my classes last semester.

(And, boy damn, am I lucky that water is 0% celery – I’m allergic to celery…)
