Odd that these days should be adjacent

Okay, I missed this, but I don’t intend to miss this.

Even though it’s technically more work.

    Cinco de Mayo and Americana

So tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo — and, according to this story from BoingBoing, it’s also Free Comic Book Day. How American is that? Free Comic Book Day FAQ here. Where to get free comics here. List of available comics…

Hrm, I wonder, is there any significance, or only coincidence, that World Naked Gardening Day is also Mexican Independence Day (Cinco de Mayo)?

Hm… we’ve had poison ivy in the back yard. Think I’ll pass up today’s festivities.
(…& “no pants day” looks more like “cute boxers day”!)

I don’t think there’s any connection to the Battle of Puebla; the first WNGD was in September, as was the second. I suspect they moved it to spring to take advantage of a presumably-higher interest in gardening than exists in fall. (Which suggests that it’s primary a Northern Hemisphere movement, come to think of it.)
