What blows around, comes around

This question is not only begged, it’s panhandled:

Are the dozens of tornados and twisters plaguing the Midwest Karma?

Karma for the countless midwest senators and Governors who tried to veto aid for the Northeast from hurricane Sandy?

There was no pork in the Sandy bill, and I doubt that term will even come up with discussions for aid for the Midwest, since the GOP panders to that region so much.

Just last week, Oklahoma Senator Inhofe claimed that his request for aid for his state was “totally different” from the Northeast requesting aid—–even though he himself tried to block aid to that region. The hypocrisy is overwhelming.

Are these series of Tornados some type of Karma against those who tried to spite the victims in the Northeast?

The asker didn’t much care for it, but the voters gave this response a boost:

Were karma reliable, pretty much the entire Congress would be set adrift on ice floes in the Arctic Ocean by now.

But no, weather does not respond to such things — or if it did, you’d be forced to conclude that Mother Nature is a selfish, vengeful trollop.

Me, I wouldn’t trust her around margarine.

What really hacks me off lately are the TV ads with celebrities begging for money for NYC.

I don’t know where all the supposed pork for NYC is gone.
Couple of friends came for lunch recently and told me about their friends, who live in a big house in Rockaways: their whole street is in ruins, most of the neighbors left. Their house is 75% gone, the yard is damaged beyond repair. The house cost them over $1.25mln, insurance paid somewhere around $150K, government agencies paid nothing. They are not living only because they have 2 home office-based businesses (he owns a CG company and she is a CPA), and for now they can’t afford to rent a separate office.

I suspect this is just the result of governmental inefficiency: they can’t spend a billion without shelling out another half-billion to spell out all the rules by which the billion is then spent, and then another half-billion to find ways for their minions and benefactors to skim off most of that original billion.

If it had gone to make storm repairs it wouldn’t be pork. Money that does what the bill supposedly was for, is not pork. Money that is spent while the work remains undone, is pork.

So, if the storm damage remains unfixed, all that money that was in the bill?
