You ducks are expected to sit

A front-page (albeit below the fold) story in this morning’s Oklahoman described the horrors of a westside neighborhood, an area in which I used to live many years ago and which apparently has been heading into the ol’ porcelain facility of late.

The story (behind the paywall) was long enough to fill up page 2A, where I found this:

Oklahoman photo of Terrace Apartments in OKC

I ought to call up a local sign painter and ask what he’d charge for “SHOOT US, WE’RE UNARMED.”

I live on the edge of the 4.4 mile section of town discussed in the article. The dangers are true in the apartment complexes and along the main thoroughfares. Within the neighborhoods, there are areas that are comparatively safe. I’m thankful to live in a house on one of the safer streets in the area. I moved to this area from another dangerous area in Okla. City: Lyrewood Land and Wilshire Blvd. When I moved here in 2000, it felt safer here than over on Lyrewood. I’m not sure its still safer over here, but memories of Lyrewood make this are feel safer.

Increased police “presence” until the grant runs out. The fading apartment sign says it all.

I don’t know: Katnis does pretty well with a bow and arrow.

I’ll keep that in mind when we officially become District 46.
