I want my books back, you son of a centaur

One of the scarier sights in “Twilight’s Kingdom,” the fourth-season finale of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, is the destruction of the Golden Oak Library in Ponyville. I remember saying, “Oh, Tirek, now you’ve made her angry. You won’t like her when she’s angry.”

There is, of course, a better line:

My name is Twilight Sparkle. You killed my books. Prepare to die.

Then again, she was never in the revenge business.

That’s gotta be one of the best fan-made gags coming out of that episode. I laughed mightily when I saw it. (Still: RIP, Golden Oak Library. A book is a horrible thing to waste.)

And of course, she wouldn’t actually kill Tirek, would she?

(Dump him in the Mirror Pond, maybe?)

No, dumping him in the Mirror Pond would make two Tireks, wouldn’t it? That’s more like a Derpy Hooves kind of thing to do.

Considering that he got sent to the ponyverse equivalent of Hell AND locked in a tiny cage while there…..that’s pretty serious.

On the other hoof, I have to assume there’s some additional security beyond a single three-headed dog. (Wait a minute, that sounds funny.) (Too late now.)

Frankly, I’m a little surprised (though this may be a season 5 plotline) that Twi didn’t go “Wait a second…..I didn’t check all that hard to make sure everyone was still in Tartarus after Cerberus escaped. THIS IS ACTUALLY MY FAULT.”

Then again, if, as some commentators have said, that Twilight “pulled an Aslan,” maybe in the grander scheme of things, Tirek HAD to escape in order for the Grand Plan to work out…
