Let the sunshine in

You remember the old saying, right? “The Internet: where men are men, women are men, and children are FBI agents.” Sometimes I wonder if I remember it too well.

I wonder, is there any correlation between tattoos and nudity? Or maybe an anti-correlation?

There is definitely a correlation between tattoos and my desire to see a person nude. My desire is inversely proportional to the amount of tattoos. To say that I do not share the love for those things would putting it mildly.

There’s also a z-axis: age. Old nudists, of the sort you see in officially-sanctioned resorts, tend to have not a whole lot of body art. The younger folks are more likely to have been inked, but they show up more on beaches and at informal gatherings.

To be honest, I wonder how well some of the tats I see on the college kids these days are going to hold up over time. Gravity has a way of doing weird stuff to skin, especially as connective tissue wears out….

I’m okay with some tats but I will confess that the ones on the face and the neck get to me. Several reasons for this, not just the association with guys doing hard time.

A sailor who has his ship tattooed on his chest at 19 will find it just above his navel 50 years later.

What I wonder about are what would become of his body piercings. Not that I want an answer…
