When the brain hurts

Depressed? “Buck up,” they say. “Smile a little.”

They are, of course, full of crap.

AMEN! I had a therapist tell me that I just needed to make myself smile every once in a while and my depression would get better. I’ll never go to a therapist again unless I know they have suffered from depression. Not just down once or twice…but clinical depression.

Those who have never experienced mental illness know not whereof they speak, and I suppose can be excused, but it would be nice if they would recognize their ignorance.
