Excessive generosity

The Feds do not approve:

I was making a large order of Amazon gift cards for a Christmas bonus for employees when I got this email from Amazon:

We’re contacting you regarding your recent Amazon.com order xxxxxxxxx, which included one or more gift cards. To comply with the U.S. federal regulations, purchases of gift cards from Amazon.com and its affiliated websites are limited to up to $10,000 for any customer in a single day. Because this order contained gift card purchases in excess of this limit, it has been cancelled and you won’t be charged for any items in this order.

You know, Feds, you wouldn’t have this problem if (1) you weren’t so desperate to look tough on drugs and (2) you hadn’t been steadily devaluing the freaking currency for the last hundred years.

well, maybe it gives some employers an “out” to not offer any kind of holiday bonus to their employees: “Well, you don’t want the Feds coming down on us, do you?”

The invasions of privacy and infringements on freedom that have developed from the War on Drugs are too numerous for ordinary citizens to fathom. Indeed, many of the restrictions on the purchase and ownership of firearms have the War on Drugs for their genesis. But don’t you dare suggest that the War is a dead loss; that immediately marks you as a druggie, or perhaps a dealer.

    Liberty, we hardly knew ye.
