More than a Colonel of truth

Suddenly I’m kind of hungry:

Kentucky Fried Chicken ad from October 1964

Neither of these locations remains open. Then again, as you might have inferred from the prices, this was a long time ago.

I wonder if they still sell chicken by the “barrel.”

KFC.com says there are two sizes of Bucket — 12 or 16 pieces — but apparently there’s no more Barrel.

That’s fair. There’s also no more Colonel.

I wish KFC’s ad department would get that memo.

(The “Extra Crispy” Colonel, as played by George Hamilton, is flat creepy.)

It’s actually a joke the way they keep switching actors. Norm MacDonald, Jim McGaffigan, George Mc– um, George Hamilton… who will it be next week?

What they should have done is hired eleven different people named Herb.

I rather wish they had kept Norm. He was actually pretty good at it.

A couple of those Herbs would have to be spicy, though.

(I’m old enough to remember the ads with the “real” Colonel and the ones with the actors creep me out a little, regardless of who it is)

Easier to deal with the Colonel than with, say, the erstwhile Burger King.
