    Sadly, his legacy is already fading. A news reader going over his ‘greatest hits’ pronounced the one “Mabel-line”. Obviously never heard the song.

    In my experience, it’s not the brightest-lights or most culturally-plugged-in that get hired as newsreaders.

    (One in my area once gaffed and misread “important” as “impotent.” The inappropriateness should have been clear from context)
