Doing that VSG thing

VSG = vertical sleeve gastrectomy, the latest new wrinkle in bariatric (stomach-stapling) surgery. (I learn something every day.)

The “babies” cited will enter first grade and kindergarten this fall, so they’re not exactly infants. (Oh, the things you can be excited for. Me, I was excited by the sight of that Chick-Fil-A van.)

I hope she succeeds. I knew one person who had a lap-band installed years ago, and it didn’t work well at all. He kept making misguided food choices (meat, bread and cheese, for every meal). And he never looked like he lost a substantial amount of weight. It seemed like a complete waste, since he didn’t bother to re-educate himself about WHAT to eat. Also, I’m pretty sure that he became bulemic. Every time we went out to eat, he would excuse himself to the restroom for a while, and I had the impression that he was disgorging. And he never took up an exercise program, which it sounds like this woman IS.

She’s never been one to sit around and do nothing.
