In the fall, if at all

Uncle Buddy, bless his pea-pickin’ heart, used to say that at least ten months out of the year. And by rights, this ought to be my favorite season of the year. It isn’t, and I don’t know why.

The main attraction of fall to me here in subtropical west Georgia is that it marks the end of an entirely-too-long summer.

We don’t get the sudden, spectacular fall color Mrs. McG and I loved in Fairbanks, and it doesn’t herald a six-month period of snow on the ground, ice on the roads, and periodic dips toward the Celsius/Fahrenheit Singularity.
