Borrowed bliss

While my own perhaps-stupidly-expensive car sits in the shop, I’ve been tooling about in a newer perhaps-stupidly-expensive car. And it’s not easy making the adjustment, either.

In my little town, the dealers wish us luck in finding a rental or a friend willing to loan us a spare car. It kinda sucks and I’m grateful the worst repair I have had thus far was fixing the airbag trigger (two days) when a mouse ate the old one. I was able to rely on colleagues for getting to work then, but I still didn’t like it.

I keep hoping that “no loaners policy” will change, but I think we have a better chance of a Whole Foods opening here first.

This is one of the few perks of buying into one of those Premium Brands. Compensates, almost, for the five or ten grand you pay extra for the name and the $25 an hour extra on the service floor.

yeah, we’ve got a Ford dealer, a GM dealer, and about a thousand little used-car lots. Any other nameplate, you gotta go at least 1/2 hour for. I don’t fancy driving to Dallas for recall repairs and the like.
