And, alas, regardless of what we may think about it, the legal definition of public notice (as codified in the state constitution and statutes) is very specific.

I was, of course, being facetious. The State Election Board was absolutely right to call shenanigans on NTC.

McGehee,

As much as I would love for everyone in the area to read by blog (and the blogs of my friends and associates who helped get the word out), it is a far cry from most people in the NTC district (all of 5 counties and part of 3).

And, alas, regardless of what we may think about it, the legal definition of public notice (as codified in the state constitution and statutes) is very specific. This was not a political issues. I am hard-core, right-wing conservative. John Wylie is a known Democrat. The Claremore Progress has never seen a tax it didn't love. We all came out on the side of basic fairness that our system requires. Fortunately, my PR background aided me in getting the word out.

Just ask yourself why NTC would not send a legal notice to all the media outlets it later sent a press release to (with barely a week until the election). Therein lies the answer.

Deep freeze, eh? May I segue?

According to the news, you have lost power from the electric company due to the ice storm. Everybody is in danger! Stay off the roads! Emergency help needed!

Just what kind of battery backup do you use?

Further, several election boards — including the State Election Board — had advised NE Tech Centers that the vote, if it had passed, would likely face legal challenges and be invalidated due to the lack of proper public notice.

You mean they couldn’t have claimed that your post on the subject didn’t constitute public notice? I mean, more people probably found out about it from you than from their own efforts…
