I’m perfectly content with my current Nike sport sandals, which have served me well for a number of summers, and which have no drawbacks other than the one you’d expect: tan lines across the foot.

I wear them and think they are absolutely divine. They are comfortable and quite a few people who know my penchant for the latest cheap vogue footwear have exclaimed about my sandals.

I’m not so sure about the diet plan. I remember a coworker, circa 1982, who looked like a slightly-skinnier (and much more even-tempered) version of Naomi Campbell, and she could pack it away like you wouldn’t believe. The woman could live entirely on the Taco Bell menu for six months and lose a pound. I have to assume that this is a genetic factor.

Yeah, I was thinking of the Dr. Scholl’s sandals too. I bought them one summer (when I was younger, stupider, and more gullible) and wore them. All I got were blisters on the bottoms of my feet.

I think to get “supermodel legs” you must be born with “supermodel genes” as well as following the “supermodel diet plan” (iceberg lettuce, Tab, cigarettes, and once in a while, a Tic-Tac) and the “Supermodel Exercise Plan” (in other words, don’t have a job – or rather, your job is working out with a personal trainer named Dolph or Buzz or something like that).

A friend of mine was mentioning these at lunch the other day. She said her doc told her that they have reeked havoc on women’s feet. How they can be worse than heels seems strange.

Simply appears to be an overpriced flip-flop to me.

Speaking of “flip-flops” – About 10 years ago, some schoolteacher friends went to White Water. When Mary Lou saw the sign, “No Thongs Allowed,” she immediately looked at her feet and exclaimed, “But thongs are all I brought!” We’ve chuckled about it ever since.

They made pretty much the same claim for the Dr Scholl’s Exercise Sandal back in the 70′s or 80′s. (Can’t remember when they came out.) I have no idea if there was any truth to the claim. They looked uncomfortable so I didn’t buy any.
