Don’t bother, they’re here

And you can’t afford one anyway. The first Nissan GT-R to be sold in the States went to a fellow from Costa Mesa, California, who contrived to pick up his supercar at a minute past midnight Monday from a dealership in the San Fernando Valley.

The guy paid $72,900 for the car, 100 percent of sticker; I’ll be really surprised if any others can be had for so little.

Did you see where the Nissan won the comparo with a ‘Vette, 911 and a Viper in C&D?

Part of the tally was the Nissan’s lowest sticker – like that is gonna stick in the real world. I still think I’d rather have a ‘Vette.

I did see that. Then again, you’re not going to get much of a discount on a Z06, either.

I’m not the target market for any of those cars, though. I’m not a ten-tenths driver, or anywhere near close to it; I’m probably an order of magnitude more sporting than the average somnolent old coot cluttering up the left lane in a Dodge minivan, but this doesn’t mean I have any business pretending to be a racer, and had I somewhere in the seventies to spend on rolling stock, I’d wait around for Nissan to come up with a new Q for Infiniti.

If I had “somewhere in the seventies to spend” on a vehicle, I’d spend it on gas.

    For a week or so.
