Well, everybody’s heard about the bird

Mister Snitch! is not pleased:

Chaz at Dustbury updates his site design and publishing platform. His is one of the oldest blogs (from before there WERE blogs, really) on the ‘net. But why oh why did he have to change his bird?

It’s like this, he says:

Old bird: Elegant, iconic, clean, mysterious, alert, streamlined.

New bird: Fuzzy, gray, scanned-looking, birdbrained, sleepy.

One wonders what he thought of an even older bird:

Version 6 bird

If enough people complain, maybe I’ll reinstate the bird you know and/or love. Or maybe not.

“One wonders what he thought of an even older bird”

It’s charming, if your six-year-old is setting up a site. You have to use that “kids writing” font with the backwards “e” and “s” for the full effect, though.

Hmm. Maybe I’d better move along and insult someone else for awhile.

Please, bring back the bird – and that nice, restful, easy-on-the-eye, vaguely beige-y background if possible. The new one looks kinda… industrial, somehow. All IMHO, of course.

So your original site mascot was a Carolina chickadee instead of a goldfinch? At least that’s what that bird looks like to me.

Closest I could find in the Big Disk (1.44 MB!) O’ Clip Art.

Or point out the ice cream is still frickin’ free and they should, oh maybe, mind their own beeswax.

I actually like the old bird better, too.

But more to the point, I noticed that your JPEGging of it (or your source’s) left quite a bunch of disturbing artifacts — all those zitty-looking things are from over-compression.

As the excuse goes, it was that way when I got it.

And now I see the standard birdie is back in place…

Call me a stickler for details, I s’pose. I didn’t notice the bird had changed. As for the critics Chaz, give ’em what they want.

    Give ’em the bird.
