They’ve secretly replaced Donna’s existing software with Folger’s Crystals Microsoft Office 2007. Let’s listen in:
I want everyone reading to know I am actually crying at this very moment. Tears are rolling down my face. I AM SO FRUSTRATED BY THIS NEW OFFICE 2007 THAT I AM CRYING! All my quick key shortcuts are GONE! I customized the quick keys myself and they were apparently not ported over when the upgrade was performed. I WANT MY QUICK KEY SHORTCUTS BACK! I don’t even know where to find the spot where you create them. I CAN’T FIND ANYTHING!
Don’t look at me. I went open-source years ago.

Ha! Just a few key shortcuts (I presume, on keyboard)?
I draw on Autodesk 2005 version of CAD. My screen has14 to 18 toolbars open (each consisting of 7 to 20 commands/icons), lined up on 3 sides of the screen. Now, 2 yrs ago I spent two days modifying it, changing aliases, lining up commands I use more often into custom toolbars, etc. FYI: 2 days , in a fast-paced office, where every hour is monitored and accounted for for billing the project’ client, is a lot of time.
Now, a week ago a return from vacation. Open CAD and don’t recognize the screen; all gone. GONE. All there is is 3 standard toolbars that I never use in their stupid configuration anyway. Right when I have been thorn between 3 projects (naturally, in my absence nobody draw a thing, despite looming deadlines). Reason: our 2 IT guys, morons they are, decided to upgrade the anti-virus program on network, and then for some reason reinstall CAD from disk!!! The whole office was pulling their hair.
I was beside myself, I tell you.

Hey, that’s not funny. Brother, as a professional writer, I hate it when I lose shortcuts to change styles and the little macros to do little things. The mouse is so far over there, and it’s a couple of menu options and dialog boxes to start a numbered list using the correct style.

I live in fear of walking into one of the “smart” classrooms one day and finding they’ve changed everything on us. Out-smarted us, as it were.
The newest PowerPoint interface – I suppose it’s 2007, I’ve only seen it briefly at other universities – is shockingly ugly. Not that the original is all that pretty, but, you know, you grow used to what you have, and it’s very discombobulating to suddenly have the “new” foisted upon you.

I sympathize. I want a rollback to the original Lotus 1-2-3 keystroke interface. It wasn’t broke. Why did Miscrosoft have to go and “fix” it?
