Life in cipherspace

As the old saying goes, “When cryptography is outlawed, bayl bhgynjf jvyy unir cevinpl.” I don’t think we have a whole lot to worry about: here’s a home-built version of the Army’s M-94 ciphering tool, with every bit (84-bit, more precisely) as much precision as the high-dollar Pentagon original. It looks like this:

In practice, you wouldn’t have letters in color, but this was built purely as a demonstration device.

And I repeat here the warning issued by the guy who made it:

It may be illegal in some countries for you to build cipher devices yourselves or use them. In fact it may have been illegal for you to read this blog!
