Booty called for

Belhoste has kind words for this:

Cup Booty by United Nude

These may just replace my current winter booty choice in the upcoming months. I am not sure how well they will stand up to the ice and snow, but I don’t care! A girl’s gotta have some stand out shoes for the grey months. They are from United Nude and they are definitely the cutest boots I have seen in a while.

From the official pitch:

A smooth cup shaped heel integrates with the upper and gives the shoe a vintage feel with a modern twist. The upper is made with a combination of genuine leather and canvas with a side zipper all lined in leather. Also available in a slouched boot variation.

For $280, it better not slouch.

Mmnnnn…not so much for me. There’s something about the color gradient in the upper I don’t care for.

Of course, my winter-boot of choice (when such a thing is called for) is a heavily-waxed (to resist snow and wet) pair of old Timberland field boots (or “lady hunter’s boots,” as the chap who sold them to me charmingly designated them).

If I were going for a “retro” boot feel, I think I’d choose something more truly steampunkish, with laces running up through lots of grommets (which I would then curse every time I had to put them on or take them off).

Ohhhhhhhhhhh hell! The day I drop $280 bucks on boots, you’d best send for the men with the white coat with the extra-long sleeves because for sure I have lost my mind!!! I just bought my new winter boots — $140 Liz Claiborne suede boots for a mere $40 plus shipping on eBay and they aren’t in dayglo colors. With the beating boots take in Ohio winters, spending that kind of money is only done by people with more cash than sense. Maybe Sarah Palin should get some before the idiots bankrolling her wardrobe cut off finding.

Oklahoma winters, fortunately, tend to be a bit less heinous.

You might take a look at these boots. (I am not about to mention the price tag.)

*fillyjonk: how did you know? Not ony I have a pair those MaryPoppins-y laced black boots, on triangualr 3″ heels with hundred of grommets, I bought another pair 3 days ago - also laced, but a bit heavy-dutyer, on a wedge and lined with shearling on the inside.
The boots on the picture…aren’t worthy of my comment.
