Caroline, yes

“What’s not to like?” asks Miriam:

She’s perfect for the [New York] Senate seat. She looks like she’s straight out of central casting. First — the debutante slouch, taught only in the most expensive private schools in the nation; then there’s the slight equine resemblance, emphasized when she tosses her mane artlessly away from her face; and the aforementioned straight I-can’t do-anything-with-it hair, which takes endless time and money to achieve; and lastly, the air of entitlement, of deserving to be a Senator by acclamation, without going through the dreary business of running for office.

I posted a picture here, in which all of these elements except the air of entitlement are easily seen.

It’s times like this I wish that they’d shelved the Seventeenth Amendment and left the various state legislatures in charge of this matter: at least you’d have more than one person to blame if you didn’t like the interim Senator.

I agree with Miriam, she’ll fit right in with the other 99 Senators. And I’m not so down on the Seventeenth Amendment as I am on the whole idea of Senators having actual power.

I guess I can’t complain much about them getting attention, since people of that caliber are quite capable of getting all the attention they crave by going into rehab or adopting foreign toddlers by the boxcar-full.

Could I ever find in you again
Things that made me love you so much then
Could we ever bring ‘em back once they have gone
    Oh, Caroline no

Camelot is as dead as Humphrey-esque democrats…..She can be a US
Senator when she conducts herself like her uncles…..have sexual trysts or utilize negative bouyancy oldsmobiles.
