Temporary warming

Today is the warmest ninth of January since they started keeping records back in the 1890s, say the official numbers at Will Rogers World Airport. (“Which is stupid, because I don’t know anybody who lives at the airport,” said Al Sleet.)

Meanwhile, the Forecast Discussion warns:

AN ARCTIC AIRMASS WILL MOVE INTO THE REGION MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK BRINGING MUCH COLDER TEMPERATURES TO THE AREA. HOWEVER… THE STRENGTH AND TIMING OF THE AIRMASS ARE STILL IN QUESTION. WITH THE MODEL UNCERTAINTY… DID NOT MAKE ANY SIGNIFICANT CHANGES TO EXTENDED FORECAST.

The model uncertain? Who knew?

In the upper 70s today; probably in the single digits next midweek. Or so my NOAA weather radio claims.

I expect I will have a migraine at some point during the transition. I hate continental climates.
