There’s something just wrong with this shoe:

Women's Upscale Sandal by Stuart Weitzman

Stuart Weitzman came up with that, and dubs it “Upscale.” Uh-huh. I’ve got to agree with Style Spy: “They have a vaguely orthopedic air about them, don’t they?” Well, yeah, though orthopedic shoes tend not to have five inches of lift built into them. It might look better in the black, though. And at least it’s not one of these.

Y’know, with a short pleated skirt and a sort-of-preppy blouse, those might be kind of cute.

Not that I am volunteering myself as a model. (I don’t think anyone would want to see me in 5″ heels, let alone a short pleated skirt. And it’s not just a “statute of limitations” issue.)

I can see the short pleated skirt if you replaced all those holes in the shoe with polka dots: it shifts the emphasis to frivolity. (Filling in the holes with a dark hosiery shade will not do the trick, though.)

These exemplify my contention that life is too short to wear ugly shoes and these are seriously ugly.

I think the color, not the style, is what is the problem. I’m not sure that the “not quite Caucasian flesh” color is a good shoe color because it DOES recall orthopedic shoes.

They’d be cute in a really dark purple. That is, if you had something to wear them with.

In white, they’d probably look too much like shoes from the Kinky Nurse costume.
