The operative word seems to be "not," although I did manage about three hours of fitful semi-slumber, punctuated by hallucinations about medicine balls, before the experiment was declared a flop.

I suspect I need one of those Sleep Number beds, set to Avogadro's number or something equally implausible.

In the meantime, I spent part of the evening creating a 25-degree angle at the head of the bed. If this works, I will be properly joyful; if not, well, I'm no worse off than I was.

Sleeping in a reclined sitting position seems to be very popular these days; my dad did it for about 15 years that I know of, and I just learned that my wife's aunt and uncle do too.

I can't imagine myself going for it though -- I need to change positions at least a couple of times a night, which I don't think I'd be quite able to do except on a flat mattress.

As a rule, I sleep better in my recliner than in my bed because of sinus issues. Breath Right strips help. I also get a dry mouth no matter where I sleep, but I'm an insulin depended diabetic, so there is probably no relief there.

Here's hoping you find a livable solution.
