Darkness falls
So this morning began with an inventory of wind damage, and things didn’t improve much during the day. I put in my usual ten-plus hours, came home, and discovered that the electricity was off. Outside temperature: 90ish. Inside temperature: a bearable 78. But it wasn’t going to stay that way: it never does.
A neighbor went one way up the street to seek out the repair crew; I went the other to clean up the rest of the storm debris. He came back with less than good news: they said they’d have to climb every pole for half a mile to get us back on the grid. Lucky me.
The first order of business, therefore, is to find a place to stay for the night: I’m not sitting at home in the dark waiting for thunderstorms to kick in.

If I didn’t have to be at work early tomorrow morning … but never mind, you get the idea.
Normal range for this date: high 78, low 57. This month has actually been slightly cooler than average, thanks to entirely too much rain.

As is usual, the tornado sirens sounded, and everyone ran to their porches to see where the funnel was.

I hear you. Keep in mind, anyway, invitation has no expiration date.
And don’t tap your insurance for damages – or they’ll raise the premium next year.
