Scrutinizing another insurance bill

Every six months, there it is, and every six months, I pull out the old one and compare notes. Once again, it’s gone up a smidgen — but for what? Let’s see:

  • Liability (injury): down $1.70.
  • Liability (property): up $8.80.
  • Uninsured motorists: up $24.10.
  • Comprehensive: up $8.60.
  • Collision: up $3.20.
  • Road service: down $0.80.
  • Rental reimbursement: up $2.70.

The rental-reimbursement coverage has actually improved — up an additional $5 a day/$150 maximum — so I consider that basically a wash.

The major issue, once again, is coverage against, or in spite of, uninsured motorists, which makes up a bit more than half the overall increase. I continue to wish them ill.
