Number three

The Thunder, with the fourth-worst record in the NBA, got the third pick in the 2009 lottery. Since it’s generally accepted that Blake Griffin and Ricky Rubio will go 1-2, the field is wide open for number three — and GM Sam Presti always has something up his sleeve.

That said, I’m sort of expecting to see Arizona State shooting guard James Harden end up here: he has the fundamentals down cold, his few weaknesses will be overcome quickly enough, and by all accounts he’s your basic Solid Citizen type, which counts heavily in Presti’s notebook.

The actual selection, of course, is still more than a month away.
