    Having lived next door to one of those “middle class families” with kids, and having lived next door to a batch of those 20-something Young and Restless, I’ll take the family with children, thank you very much. Because families with children – unless things are very dysfunctional – see to it that whatever noise is going on stops by 10 pm at the very latest.

    I fit that single-no-kids demographic (though I suppose demographics being what they are, I no longer count as “young”) and a lot of the stuff that supposedly appeals to them doesn’t appeal to me.

    Well, except for the “boutiques,” maybe. But I tend to lean more towards craft-supply shops or antique stores selling fussy bits of china rather than upscale clothing stores. (Because most of the truly “upscale” clothing stores tend to stop at a ladies’ size 10…because they want to keep out those that do not fit their mold of what an “acceptable” woman should look like…)
